Solution Specialist/Business Analyst — Vancouver & Calgary Vancouver, BC

We're looking for a Solution Specialist to support the delivery of web-based solutions (Intranets, Corporate Portals, eCommerce and external web sites, and custom software applications). The ideal candidate has software development background and a consulting mindset. We're looking for someone who aspires to earn a trusted advisor relationship with their clients. This role will involve significant time on site, doing face-to-face problem solving with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, with emphasis on business analysis and software configuration
  • Work effectively with multi disciplinary teams which include customer stakeholders, project managers, business analysts, developers, testers and systems personnel
  • Share knowledge and provide assistance across projects as needed
  • Continuously improve internal processes
  • Write technical materials as needed
  • Provide input on internal vision and strategy
  • Provide support in the sales process as needed

Required Skills and Experience

  • Four-year degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of enterprise-level development experience
  • Minimum 2 years in management/IT consulting
  • Project experience in all stages of SDLC
  • Knowledge in software engineering and business domains that will apply well in a consulting environment
  • Demonstrated history of delivering completed projects
  • Understanding of security, performance and other non-functional software attributes
  • Experience delivering Microsoft enterprise platforms, tools, and technologies
  • Very strong English language skills (oral and written)
  • Work experience with, or deep understanding of the following technologies:
    • .NET (C#), ASP.NET
    • ASP, HTML, Javascript/DHTML
    • XML technologies
    • MS SQL Server
    • Networks and systems; systems integration

Nice-to-have Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency in MS SharePoint Portal Server 2003 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007
  • Deep vertical industry knowledge in one or more of the following: financial services, municipalities, retail, resources, education
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and enterprise integration
  • Awareness of agile methodologies
  • Good sense of aesthetics and human factors (UI design)
  • Desire to improve processes
